Notable Experience
Rick has conducted numerous bench and jury trials, and presented many oral arguments to the various Ohio Courts of Appeal. He was profiled in a feature article in the 2005 Edition of Ohio Super Lawyers - Rising Stars . Rick has also published several peer-reviewed articles in both legal and scientific publications, including Nonbinding Alternative Dispute Resolution Processes in Fisheries Conflicts: Fish Out of Water? 16 Ohio St. J. on Disp. Resol. (2001) 791, and presented seminars on insurance coverage and bad-faith claims, toxic mold and construction defect claims, and genetic introgression and dispersal of hatchery-raised fishes.

During law school, Rick was Articles & Symposium Editor for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, the official journal for the American Bar Association's Section on Dispute Resolution, where he selected non-student articles for publication and organized the Moritz College of Law's annual Dispute Resolution Symposium. He also was a legal intern for the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Environmental Enforcement Section, focusing primarily on surface and ground water issues. Rick graduated early from law school to finish his Master's Degree before coming to the firm.

Rick enjoys his family, Ohio State athletics, fishing, music, history and movies. He is associate executive director of the Community Oversight Foundation, a 501(c)(4) entity. Rick is also a member of Rotary International and the Ohio Trucking Association.

Rick was a musician on a major record label, appearing on MTV, and even dabbled in the bass fishing tournament trail. Although born in Columbus, Rick grew up in Texas.
